“I’m going to ask if I can get two desserts tonight,” Sky said in a weary voice as he rode the elevator to the main lobby’s floor.

“I bet they’ll give you as many as you want,” Vince said, leaning against the wall.

“Within reason,” Gavin agreed.

We were all exhausted from a day in the water and sun but in the best way. A happy tired. Paddle boarding and nachos on the beach were exactly what everyone needed to lift their spirits. It took us a while to get cleaned up when we got back to our cabin because we all wanted to lounge. Luca reminded us that with a group our size, we had to make our reservation or eat at the buffet. None of them were willing to give up the chocolate molten cakes you could only order in the restaurant, so they moved quickly to get ready.

“I hope they have the lemon chicken again.” I sighed wistfully. It was my favorite entrée on the rotating menu so far, and my mouth watered thinking about it.

The elevator doors opened, and Chris, the guy from the pool, pushed in with a frantic expression, recognizing us.

“Avalon, have you seen her? Have you seen Sage?” His eyes pleaded with me to say yes.

“No, I haven’t. We just came from our floor, and I didn’t see her in the halls.” His shoulders dropped. “What’s wrong?”

“I haven’t been able to find her. My parents walked her back to the ship earlier because she said she wasn’t feeling good, but she’s not in the room or any of the places I can think of.”

“Did the crew see her get on board?” Gavin asked.

“They said they did.” He rubbed his face. “Her badge was scanned in.”

“Come over here.” I led him out of the way, and the guys crowded around us. We’d left the island hours ago, so where had she been all this time? If she wasn’t feeling good and she wasn’t in her room, maybe she found somewhere quiet to lay down. As long as she was on the ship we would find her, eventually. “Have you notified any of the staff?”

He nodded. “They said they have some security looking for her, but it’s been two hours and we can’t find her.”

“We’ll help you look.” I glanced around to the guys, and they all nodded.

“Where have you already gone?” Noah asked.

“All the pools, the arcade, the spa, and gym.” Chris pinched his nose and closed his eyes. “The shops and our floor.”

“Let’s split up.” Gavin stepped forward. “Do you have a picture of her?”

Chris pulled out his phone and showed us a picture he took earlier today. “This is what she was last wearing.”

“Let’s split into groups of two.” Luca pointed to Sky and Vince. “You two start at the lowest level and work your way up. Gavin and Noah, you start at the top. I’ll go with Chris and Avalon to check with security again, and we’ll meet in the middle.”

The group separated, and Chris led us to the front desk where he first let them know his sister was missing.
